Ready or Not... Madrid Here I Come!

With only two days until departure for Madrid, It doesn't feel like I will ever be fully ready- physically or mentally. This trip is something I have imagined for over a year and have anxiously anticipated for the past four months, but it still doesn't feel like it is coming to fruition.

Wednesday evening, September 1, I will be flying across the Atlantic bound for Barajas Airport in Madrid. My mom, dad, and brother will be accompanying me to help me move my life into my new residence and to experience a bit of Spain under the guide of a seasoned traveler.

This will be my fourth trip to Spain and I have an absolute love for everything about the country from the people to the culture to the food. While I have been just a visitor before, it will be exciting to return as a resident and experience a year of life in the shoes of a Spaniard (well my shoes aren't quite as nice of course).

I said my bittersweet goodbyes to Syracuse on Friday as I spent my last day at work in the place I have called home for the past four years. I teared up as I walked the quad for the last time and looked up at the buildings that weren't nearly as daunting as they were four years ago. But I know that I have done so much in the past four years, made amazing friends and connections, and will always hold a special place in my heart for the 'Cuse.

Unpacking one phase of life and packing for another is proving to be a challenge... especially for one who loves fashion and has amassed quite the collection of books and decorative odds and ends over the years. But with the necessities packed into four suitcases and my mind halfway in the right direction, I depart Wednesday for Espana!

See you on the other side of the pond :)
